The Lebanese Association for Energy Saving
(ALMEE), has dedicated its activities for more than 9 years to energy saving and envirnment issues in order to achieving a sustainable and harmonious development.
In this context, ALMEE is involved in many activities, programs, studies and projects with :
- DG XVII (EC) synergy program framework : energy and environment in the city.
- UNIDO TSS1 project relative to monitoring of atmospheric pollution in Lebanon.
- UNDP and UNEP Projects umbrella for GEF and application of Montreal Protocol in Lebanon related to CFC issues.
- ADEME (France) with whom ALMEE has signed an agreement of cooperation in energy and environment fields :
- DSM project in Zouk / Byblos (JBEIL)
- educational project "Liban précieux - Planète précieuse"
- energy efficiency in transport
- etc...
- METAP - World Bank program - related to environment issues in Lebanon for air, water and waste
- European Bureau of Environment (EBE - Brussels), WWF (Barcelona), MIOECSDE (Athens), CEDARE (Cairo), ENDA (Tunisia), WEAA (Washington DC), CME (London) and Energy-City (Besançon).
- UNESCO (Paris) in the framework of the World Solar Submit Program (WSSP) in order to develop domestic hot water solar systems in Lebanon
- Agence Internationale de l'Energie (AIE - Paris) for preparing the energy balances in Lebanon.
- APUR (Paris) to establish the Environmental Atlas of Beirut
- FFEM (Paris) : Energy efficiency in building projects
- CRES (Athens) to establish the Energy GIS in Mediterranean countries.
- WEEA (Washington) for creation of ESCOS Network
- IEPF (Quebec) in the framework of Prisme (Programme international de soutien à la maitrise de l'Energie)
- UITF Member (Union des Ingénieurs et des Techniciens utilisant la langue Française).
- MEDENER founfer member (Meditteranean Association of the National Agencies for Energy Conservation.
- Climate change enabling activity project in Lebanon : member of the National coordinating committe and team. Prepared the mitigation energy part of the project
- PRISME Member (Programme international de soutien à la maitrise de l'Energie).
- Member of the co-ordinating committee for the “Climate Change enabling activity Project ” IN Lebanon.
- Member of the "Lebanese Envronmental Development Observatory LEDO " in order to set up indicators for Lebanon on energy and climate change.
- Prepared and edited so far 15 bulletins as well as brochures on the ozone issues, energy saving, renewable energy, energy autditing, state of the energy in Lebanon and others.
Executed projects :
- Mediterranean energy information network project (synergy program) for the European Commission - synergy with CRES (Greece)
- Energy policy dialogue: DG XVII project with the European Commission and lebanese government as subcontract from Hagler Bailly consulting.
- How to develop energy services companies (ESCO's) in the Mediterranean partners project (Synergy Program): Project develpped with IDAE (Spain).
- MEDA « Euro Mediterranean energy policy training network » : a project developped with Athens-EPU university.
- Prepared and implemented the "Liban précieux - Planète précieuse" project by lecturing on rational use of energy and renewable energies (ADEME/ALMEE project - 1997).

ANALYSIS OF VIABILITY OF THE CLEAN DEVELOPMENT
IN THE MEDITERRANEAN AREA”.
- WORKING ON A MEDA PROJECT WITH THE CONSORTIUM DECON
(GERMANY), BCEOM (FRANCE), CEETA (PORTUGAL)
AND ENERECO (ITALY) “REFORM OF THE

OF THE COMMERCIAL REFRIGERATORS MANUFACTURERS
IN LEBANON TO NON CFCs USERS.

AND IN THE PROCESS OF IMPLEMENTING A BILATERAL
COOPERATION PROJECT WITH AFD-FRANCE CONCERNING
THE INSTALLATION OF A NETWORK FOR RECOVERY
AND RECYCLING OF CFCs, INCLUDING TRAINING
OF TECHNICIANS TO THE TECHNIQUES OF RECOVERY
AND RECYCLING OF CFCs.
